Leeches are a bunch of desperate, bubbly individuals who've been hurt before and won't suffer fools gladly (or something). Interests include embroidery, nights in by the fire, long walks and debauchery.
Formed in the depths of Dorset in the pre-summer haze of 2016, LEECHES are bringing infectious pop hooks to fuzzy alt-rock - a match made in heaven some might say. Their debut single, 'Inside Voices' was released in early October 2016, and the band have finally got themselves together to release their debut EP on cassette via Leisure Records (but not before sticking the artwork through the washing machine). 'Strange Bonds' is a four-track trip through the trio's thoughts and whimsy, mixing their moments of tender reflection with pop hooks and psyche-riffs.
Guitarist/vocalist Ben Lowe give the low-down on the EP:
"'Strange Bonds' is basically what happens when you reverse brew prison wine, a heady mix of alternative/heavy psychedelic pop-rock and jazz.
Big.. and sort of small at the same time...
The songs were written In a shack in the back garden of Jack's (Pearce, bass/vocals) house and his bedroom whilst just hanging out basically. We'd just have a drink and chat and write songs into the early hours of the morning back then. It was recorded in both Bournemouth and Bristol with makeshift studios, singing into wardrobes and shit."
